We are an alliance of independent voices. Our Broxtowe Alliance councillors are embedded in their communities. This means our people know and care about their areas as it’s their home too, and our councillors are always present and available to their residents. We also know that diversity is a strength, which is why we’re proud that our councillors come from a wide range of areas, ages and backgrounds. We aim to bring people together from all walks of life united by a common vision for a better Broxtowe.
Vocal: Meaningful actions, not empty words
We know that it is people that make our communities strong. We put the needs and wants of our constituents and communities first, free from the constraints of Westminster control. Putting democracy and politics back into the hands of local people, rooted in reality. We can’t promise that everyone will always be happy with every decision, but we promise to always work hard to get the best outcome for Broxtowe.
Visible: Present and available all year round
From volunteering at foodbanks to running activities for young people, from litter picks to local events, investing in leisure centres to building council homes, and our wide range of green initiatives, our members are always active in their communities. Look around at any community group, local event, local campaign, and our councillors will be there, standing up for Broxtowe.
Our principles:
Putting social housing at the top of our agenda to ensure good quality, truly affordable homes for all
Standing up for local communities, people & businesses. We will always act in the interest of our communities without having to be compromised by Westminster politicians.
No cuts to council jobs or services. We are a group that strongly values public services. As Cllrs, we oppose austerity cuts and we will continue to defend against any attacks on them.
Achieving carbon neutrality by 2027. We recognise the seriousness of the global climate crisis & are not afraid to take whatever action we can to preserve our environment for future generations.
Fighting for equality, & social justice. We will work with community groups, trade unions and all those who support our residents across the Borough.
